SAP solution: hana cloud platform

There are sensible cloud concepts, but food is eaten at home.

The disturbing sentence "Cloud only brings ERP into the dilemma" was on the cover of the DSAG member magazine. A wake-up call, but one that did not reach SAP Chief Technology Officer Bernd Leukert.

SAP focuses on the cloud-first strategy and offers its customers a wide range of solutions. Many do not have a real choice not to use these solutions. But how do customers achieve a healthy SAP licensing landscape that takes their licenses into account and optimizes them highly effectively?

This year's Sapphire was entertaining, but not insightful. What SAP really wants and where the group is just trying to keep up was not obvious in the keynotes. It remains tedious.

Stupidly, SAP's existing customers can't wait. Real life does not stand still. SAP and some partners prefer to discuss visions instead of offering viable roadmaps.

Cloud computing can be a good answer, but for now SAP has failed with Hana Enterprise Cloud and Hana Cloud Platform. Now it is making another attempt with SAP Cloud.

The title says it all, because the latest ERP system from Walldorf has a different architecture than its predecessors. One reason for this is, of course, Hana. SAP has tried to preserve what is good and enable innovations - but this does not make the "release change" any easier.
