SAP solution: on-premises

A recent DSAG survey on the use of S/4 Hana in public administration has determined the status of the S/4 transformation. It shows that over 90 percent of respondents are currently implementing a transformation project.
SAP S/4 Hana is available both in the cloud and on-prem. Although SAP as a company prefers the cloud, there are many reasons to opt for a local installation, including security. This article compares both options.
Some see software-as-a-service (SaaS) as the golden key to digitization. Others, however, shy away from this cloud solution like a cat from cold water. Time to take a look at the advantages and disadvantages of SaaS in business automation.
It is no longer possible to imagine B2B software without open source. SAP's existing customers are looking at solutions from this area, and not just because of the Linux/Hana combination. But is SAP itself making sufficient use of the open source potential?
The digital transformation has been dominating the SAP world for years. Many of the right decisions have already been made, but there is still a lot on the move. The priority topics here are the use of open source ecosystems and hybrid cloud environments.
As support for ERP/ECC 6.0 ends in 2027, the migration to S/4 is also a hot topic in the midmarket. For many customers, the changeover means moving away from legacy systems, from on-premises to the cloud, and setting up new processes and operating models.
Companies that have SAP Supplier Relationship Management with a multibackend connection in use or are thinking about central procurement management should be curious about the SAP solution Central Procurement in S/4.
The move to S/4 is a good opportunity to maintain the benefits of existing modifications with developments on the SAP Business Technology Platform, while making future upgrades and release changes easier and faster to complete.
What do SAP customers do who don't want to move to the public cloud, but still don't want to do without the benefits of the cloud? They use a cloud in their own data center - but there are some differences to consider here.
It's more than a lockdown. In Walldorf, they are trying to square the circle and SAP will fail. The transition from the McDermott system to the Klein system should have been planned more conscientiously.
More and more customers are gaining experience with hyperscalers and are moving individual applications to the cloud. And yet, SAP systems are often excluded from these considerations.
Due to the coronavirus, many things had to change abruptly in our working world. But are these changes sustainable? What will our new normal look like? Jens Krüger, CTO EMEA of Workday, in conversation.

Working on the SAP basis is crucial for successful S/4 conversion.

This gives the Competence Center strategic importance for existing SAP customers. Regardless of the S/4 Hana operating model, topics such as Automation, Monitoring, Security, Application Lifecycle Management and Data Management the basis for S/4 operations.

For the second time, E3 magazine is organizing a summit for the SAP community in Salzburg to provide comprehensive information on all aspects of S/4 Hana groundwork.
